What is the Consistency Rule?
The consistency rule is a risk management policy implemented by proprietary trading firms (prop firms) to ensure traders demonstrate consistent trading skills, not just a few lucky trades.
In simple terms: Your best trading day cannot represent more than X% of your total profit.
Formula
Percentage = (Best Day ÷ Total Profit) × 100Why does this rule exist?
- Prevent Gambling: Stops traders from making one big, risky bet to inflate their profits.
- Ensure Real Skill: Proves you can make money consistently, not just by luck.
- Protect Capital: Reduces risk for the firm by only funding disciplined traders.
